Breastfeeding and dieting

by Jasai

I know u have answered questions about the Hcg diet and breastfeeding and I know u don't recommend it but I was wondering what your opinion is with my situation...I have done the hcg diet before and was very successful and I am wanting to start it again but I am still nursing my 11 1/2 month old daughter but only at night...she eats food and drinks whole milk during the day...I am not ready to give up the night time feeding yet and was just wondering if it's ok for me to do the Hcg diet and continue nursing for that one feeding a day since she is not depending on my nursing her for her nutrition it's more of a comfort thing before bed...thank you so much for your time :)

Answer from the lactation consultant
I stand behind my recommendation that the HCG diet and breastfeeding are NOT suggested. Whether you are nursing once a day or 16 times a day, I would not suggest it.
500kcal/day and pregnancy (HCG) hormone supplements are not a good combination for any nursing mother, in my opinion.
