Breastfeeding in Public

Breastfeeding in public, I frequently get asked the question, can I nurse my baby in public?

I answer with this question, Can you eat in public?

Then yes, you can feed your child in public. Everyone must eat. And it is near impossible to time every single nursing session perfectly to allow for home feedings. And unfortunately, there is always going to be the selfish and ignorant person out there who cannot put the needs of a growing child above there own needs and beliefs. And if you can believe it, it is usually a WOMAN who complains. This one, I will never understand.

You have the right to feed your baby anywhere anytime. Most states have breast feeding laws to support and protect you feeding your child anywhere you are allowed to be. No covers are required :).

I have absolutely no problem with women who freely feed with no cover but I was a little modest (I am almost ashamed to admit I was modest being a LC and all). I was pretty self conscious of my large milk filled breasts and just did not want people gawking. So, I used a blanket or a cover up. I never had anyone ever ask me to leave or stop feeding. I would have loved to argue but the issue never came up. DARN, could have had college paid for... lol.

This is a hot topic, makes the news everyday. But what I would like to see in the news, is something like this:

"Today in Dallas, TX a woman was seen BOTTLE feeding her baby right out in the open. Can you imagine? Something so un-natural. She was promptly reported to the authorities" yeah right.
