Daddy bottle: Can daddy give a bottle so I can sleep?

Daddy bottle:

Can daddy feed the baby at night, so I can sleep?

Yes, dad can bottle feed at night, IF you get up and empty your breasts at that time by pumping. If your baby needs milk through the night then you need to empty through the night. Otherwise, you will not have enough milk for daytime feeds or for the supplemental bottles. Also, if you do not empty your breasts at regular intervals you are at a higher risk of developing mastitis. So really, the answer is no. If you have to get up to pump then why not just nurse the baby. You only make what you empty, it is a simply DEMAND=SUPPLY system, you don't empty it, you lose it.

I guess the answer can be yes, but it would mean you would have to supplement those feeds with formula, which is NOT preferable.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear. These sleepless nights will not last forever. Before you know it your newborn will be sleeping through the night. It really does go by fast. You can do it, I believe in you!
