I have a 6 month old And as of this week he has not been peeing as much I only change 1 diaper a day and he has some orange stuff in his diaper where he pees?! When I give him water it goes away but if I don't it comes back?! I asked my dr and he was not help! He just gave me a cream and said he had a minor infection in his penis but I know it's more than that! Help!
Answer from the lactation consultant
The signs you describe are consistent dehydration. If it were my child I would seek a second opinion NOW, not tomorrow, NOW at the emergency room. If it is dehydration, it should not be neglected.
Your child should be having a MINIMUM of 6 wet saturated diapers in a 24 hour period. It is not important now to discuss feeds or anything else, the lack of wet diapers needs to be addressed first and foremost.

I am not a physician, and this in NOT medical advice. This is my opinion as a mother. Follow your instincts, you are writing because you are not comfortable with the diagnosis from your doctor.
