Harder then expected.
I decided before my daughter was born to breastfeed her. Of course many things don't go as planned and my daughter had a really traumatic birth and ended up in the NICU her first 3 weeks very sick. They told me that because I wasn't yet making milk they thought it would be best for her because she was so sick to give her another mothers milk from the donor supply. I was so devastated and I went to go give the pump one more shot. (My daughter was on a feeding tube and breathing machines so she was unable to latch) I went back up to my room, hooked myself up and what do you know? Milk! Well colostrom really but either way I was elated! My daughter never had to be given another mothers milk. I still pump for her because she was so sick she never learned to latch on correctly. It's a lot harder and takes a lot more dedication then I thought it would. I have gotten mastitis horribly 3 times and it takes a lot of extra time and planning around the pumping because it's not very convenient but in the end I know my daughter is getting what's best for her and really that's all that matters!
