Nursing and pumping

How do you balance breastfeeding and pumping? When should you pump? Do you nurse on one side and pump the other? Do you pump the breast you just nursed from only? Very confused about how to do both successfully.

I do not have enough information to answer this question. Are you asking how to pump extra so you can store milk for later use? Or are you trying to exclusively pump and bottle feed?
I pumped with my first child because I had to work, and I never pumped with my second child because she was an exclusive nurser. So pumping is not mandatory for all moms.
