Does breast milk lose its nutritional value after the first year of nursing?
Answer from the lactation consultant
Great question and Absolutely not, breastmilk is live. From day 1 to year 5, it will contain live immunonlogical properties: antibodies and immuniglobins. AND it contains even more vitamins/fat ect after a year than it did during the first year. (probably because it is less volume, so more concentrated, but none the less. I highly encourage extended breastfeeding. I did it with my second daughter and she is by far the healthiest person in our house.
