Raw sore nipples

It started last week right at Christmas I would feed my daughther and it would feel like she was pinching me. I would pull her off any try again but it would still hurt. She was alittle congested and i thoughht she was sucking harder to get milk out. Well for the days she has been really fussy and I thought it might just be colic. Yesterday I notieced my nipple look welped up and have a red rash look to them and look alittle brused. Ive been pumping but they hurt when I do. They dont hurt any other time. I was just wondering if it might be thrush. I dont know wat it looks like so cant tell, also my daughter dosnt have any with bumbs on her mouth. I am not sure who to ask about it. If i should call my doctor or hers.

I am so sorry you are suffering. It could be a number of things (thrush?, bacterial infection?, hand foot mouth disease or others) Whatever the issue I would first see a board certified lactation consultant then YOUR doctor if she recommends further care. You did not say how old your baby is, I am assuming latch as already been well established. Sorry, I can't help more, something impossible to assess on a keypad.
