Reduced supply
I was always told that breastmilk is the best form of nutrition for a baby (it is also cheaper!). That is why when my daughter was born I made sure I am able to breast feed. It was painful at the beginning, since I have never done it before, and it took some time to get used to it. But in the end, it is will worth it. When my baby was about three months, my milk supply seemed to fade, so I did what everyone else was advising - drinking a lot, eating nuts, pumping, etc. And it worked! After a few days, my milk came back and I was able to get back to breastfeeding my baby. It seems that a lot of women's milk supply goes down around 2-3 months, not sure what it is related to. Luckily, I was able to breast feed my daughter for six months. Some women do not even get enough to last them 2 months, so I consider myself blessed in that sense. I believe that thanks to the breast milk, my baby has never had ear infections, thrush, pink eye, or any other common illnesses that babies get. Her immune system is pretty strong, she is able to fight off common colds, and does not get sick easily. I am truly grateful that I was able to breast feed for as long as I did. Of course, maybe if I did it up to one year it would have been better, but at least I did it for six months - that is better than nothing. With my next baby, I will definitely do everything in my power to breast feed, and now that I have had an experience with it already, I already know what to expect, and maybe I can do it even longer.
