Trouble with latch - sore nipples

Hello,

I am currently breastfeeding my two week old and I am running into a few problems. I am having a hard time with him latching on correctly. It seems as if he is biting my nipples instead of latching on and sucking the areola. my nipples are so sore they are pink, it literally hurts all the time when I am breastfeeding. any suggestions or techniques would be greatly appreciated.

Latch is one of those issues I cannot help online. It is something I need to see. Could be that the baby is rolling the lips in, could be thrush, could be a tight frenulum, could be shallow latch, could be a LOT of other things, impossible to say without seeing. I suggest you see a lactation consultant OR a peer support person through the la leche league ASAP. Latch problems need immediate assistance.
